Declan Maher Racing is a small boutique racing stable based on the Gold Coast. With over 20 years of experience in the industry and working very closely along side brother and Leading Australian Trainer Ciaron Maher, Declan brings a depth of Knowledge, patience and proven horsemanship to every horse he works with.
Declan established his own operation in April 2025, his main focus on delivering a premium standard of training built on trust, consistency and a deep understanding of each horses unique temperament and ability. Quality care and individual attention are at the heart of his training approach with his focus being on developing confident, responsive, healthy and well-educated horses throughout training in a calm, professional environment that prioritises both performance and long-term soundness.

Sydney raid sets up clash between Maher brothers
When the races dry up at home, you hit the road, and that's exactly what veteran campaigner Sibaaq will do this week as he embarks on a Sydney adventure in pursuit of Group 3 glory.
Trainer Declan Maher believes his eight-year-old warrior Sibaaq is primed to cause an upset as an $17 chance in the $250,000 Parramatta Cup (1900m) at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday, where he'll lock horns with the likes of Travolta ($3.50), older brother Ciaron's runner Piggyback ($4.20) and Campaldino ($7.50).

Declan Maher set to build on good Queensland start
Sports fanatic Declan Maher hasn’t taken long to get off the mark in his new home state of Queensland and he is hopeful of scoring more runs at Doomben on Wednesday.
Maher has been based on the Gold Coast for only four months and wasted no time landing his first win with his fifth starter in his adopted state when War Drama won at the Sunshine Coast in late July.
The younger sibling of champion trainer Ciaron Maher, Declan was back in the winner’s stall when Perhaps Perhaps gave him his first city winner since shifting north at Doomben last month.
